Our Latest Achievements


The highlight of 2011 was the building and opening of the Quorn Tearooms at Quorn & Woodhouse station.


The new Butler Henderson tearooms which had been sponsored by the Leicester Railway Society opened on Saturday July 23rd 2011.


The ceremony was conducted by the antiques expert, author and television presenter, Paul Atterbury. He was assisted by our founder member Horace Gamble.


The Mayor of Charnwood, the local member of parliament, our president David Wignall and members from the railway fraternity joined the Great Central Railway to celebrate the occasion

Please will you thank the members of the LRS for their generosity in giving me a cheque for £30 for Railway Children, and for putting £40.07 in the moneybox yesterday evening.
This means we have collected over £19,000 for the charity since we started in 2004!
